PURE painting
Charlotte Road | Group Exhibition | 07.02.08 - 01.03.08
FERREIRA PROJECTS would like to announce PURE_painting, the third in the PURE series of exhibitions in which participating artists; Brian Cheeswright, Sue Kennington, Charlotte Lindsay, Dan McDermott, Andy Murphy and Luke Skiffington, have concentrated on producing a variegated exhibition which examines how the physicality of paint can be used to express human experience and emotion.
The exhibition comprises an eclectic body of portraiture, landscape, figurative and abstract work; the artist’s are divergent in method but the work is united by an overarching melancholy. Here, paint is used to explore the human psyche, through the depiction of iconic and decaying imagery, existing and surreal environments and ambiguous, ciphered effigies. The collective work is a visual lament transmitting feelings of nostalgia, memory, displacement and loss.
PURE is an exhibition series of contemporary art, conceived by FERREIRA PROJECTS, that showcases art in its purest form; art where the prominence is given to the aesthetic rather than the theoretic, the experiential rather than the conceptual and play before pretension. These exhibitions aim to provide highly accessible, contemporary work, which the widest possible audience can appreciate, engage with and enjoy.
